On June 28th 2019, the construction of Al Abbass Water Treatment Plant (Phase I), a significant welfare project in Basra Governorate, Iraq, officially commenced.
Mr. Hassan Al-Najjar, Deputy Governor of Basra Governorate, Mr. Akeel Ibraheem Al-Khalidi, Chairman of the Committee of Economic Development and Investment of Basra Council, Mr. Li Sen, Vice President of China Energy Engineering Group International Co., Ltd, Mr. Wu Zhenlong, Chairman of BeltWay Group Limited and Mr. Ali Mohamad, CEO of BeltWay Group Limited presented at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Plant.
Al Abbass Water Treatment Plant (Phase I) is the first project under construction in the EPC Contract between the Government of Basra Governorate and Energy China – BeltWay Consortium signed in December 2018. The Plant is located at the outskirts of Basra City with a designed treatment capacity of 5,000 m3/h. After putting into operation, the Plant will supply safe potable water to the residents in Basra City, relieve the pressure on the potable water supply and make contribution to the economic and social development in Basra.
